51st General Council
From the unprecedented celebration of the Assemblies of God’s ethnic diversity to the wonderful sense of unity that marked the times of corporate worship, the 51st General Council of the Assemblies of God in August was truly remarkable.
Packed with business, ministry, worship and fellowship, the biennial meeting was a cornucopia of opportunities from which delegates and attendees from across the United States and around the world could choose.
Powerful Pentecostal preaching marked the evening services as well as an array of special functions. Business was transacted with a sense of the Holy Spirit’s overshadowing.
Children and youth had their own array of programs, with Kid’s Council and National Youth Convention providing a wide variety of activities. One of the highlights, Fine Arts Festival, spotlighted the incredible wealth of talent among our Assemblies of God youth. Music was also a highlight at services and other special functions, such as the second Revivaltime reenactment.
Church Planting, Higher Education, World Missions, and a wealth of other vibrant ministries were featured. Notable individuals were recognized by the presentation of awards, as well as by being elected to office. And an international television audience joined the proceedings for the first time through coverage by Inspiration Networks. Through the broadcasts, a multitude of Assemblies of God viewers swelled the number of Council participants to unprecedented ranks.
A special, extended PE Report in this issue samples just a little of the rich tapestry that was the 51st General Council in Denver. Please read on.
