  • July 11, 2014 - Reflections

    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

March 19, 2010 - Minor Key

By Audrey Clay

I’m grateful for the friends who are a part of the symphony that God has arranged for my life.

Music has always had a special place in my life. I love going home in the evening, sitting at the piano and playing the beautiful songs of the Lord. The other evening as I was playing, the song changed for a few measures into a minor key. I thought of how sometimes our lives change from a bright melody into a “minor key.” The Holy Spirit reminded me that there are blessings in a “minor key.” For instance:

• The ability to get tired and be renewed by rest and relaxation.

• Being thirsty and dry and then drinking a cup of cool water.

• Experiencing a bright sunny day after a week of dark clouds and rain.

• Hearing the phone ring at a moment when loneliness has set in and hearing the voice at the other end say, “Hi, Mom.”

The divine Music Master has written and arranged a beautiful musical “score” for each of our lives. Some measures may be written in a minor key, but Jesus says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart” (Proverbs 3:5, NIV).

We can be certain that the last measure will be one of triumph and victory. For this reason, we can rejoice and be thankful even in the “minor key” measures of life’s song. I hope you will enjoy the music He has arranged for your life.

“Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, The Message).
