    By Jean S. Horner
The other day while walking down a corridor in a public building, I saw what appeared to be someone walking toward me. On coming closer, I found it was my own reflection in a huge mirror. For a moment it frightened me. Somehow a full-length reflection of one’s self is a startling thing. ...

September 19, 2011 - Life Out of the Box

By Kristen Feola

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10, NKJV).

When my husband and I bought a file cabinet for our home office, my daughters, ages 7 and 5, immediately claimed the box as theirs. The empty container sitting in our living room wasn’t just a plain old box to them. Instead, they envisioned a castle, a cave, or a playhouse. Making big plans to decorate it and make it pretty, they no doubt went to bed with smiles on their faces, their imaginations wonderfully capable of seeing beyond the box’s cardboard walls.

Life with Christ is life out of the box! When you choose to surrender to the Lord and pursue Him wholeheartedly, your experiences will be anything but boring. Life will be full of color and purpose. God’s plans for you are big, much bigger than you mind can even conceive. He wants to go beyond your wildest dreams and astound you with His greatness and glory.

Following Jesus isn’t about obeying a long list of dos and don’ts, as I used to believe. It’s not a legalistic, monochromatic existence devoid of any fun or laughter. It’s not just going to church on Sundays, reading the Bible, and praying, although those disciplines are important and necessary. It’s more. So much more.

If you find yourself surrounded by four walls, it’s time to take a leap of faith. Cast aside what you think life in Christ is supposed to be and venture out into the unknown. God wants you to experience an abundant life in Him, one that surpasses all of your dreams. He is faithful and will not disappoint. The Lord has more for you. So much more. Trust Him. Jump out of the box!
